| The Coordinator of Religious Exploration will report directly to the North Universalist Chapel Society Minister. The position will be approximately 20 hours per week for 10 months.
The position will include the following responsibilities: 1. Teach a class each Sunday during church service (10-11 AM) for elementary school-aged children. 2. Recruit, supervise, and provide support and training for one other teacher, nursery school staff, and volunteer teachers. 3. Work with minister, RE committee and teaching staff to select/develop, implement, and monitor curricula for two classes: grades K-4 and 5-8. 4. Work with RE Committee to expand the outreach program, including promoting the RE program and collaborating with other community groups, to encourage partnerships and attract more families and children. 5. Coordinate story hour, intergenerational services, and other special events with children and youth. 6. Ensure all NUCS safety standards pertaining to children are met. 7. Track children’s attendance. 8. Communicate regularly with minister to report on progress and coordinate congregational goals and activities. 9. Meet monthly with RE Committee and, as necessary, with the NUCS Board to discuss and address needs of program. 10.Communicate regularly with parents to keep them informed of their children’s activities, motivate them to attend regularly, and inspire them to participate. 11. Work with RE committee to submit a quarterly report to Board of Trustees, prepare report and budget for annual report, and submit 4 articles per year to the “Quest” newsletter to inform congregation of RE activities. 12. Organize and purchase supplies as needed. 13. Work with committees and other members to envision and plan for full lifespan curriculum, particularly focusing on meeting the needs of our pre-adolescents as time allows. 14. Attend district and area religious exploration conferences and workshops as time and funds allow. |
